Eugene Christian, MD, is Chief Medical Affairs Officer at Bon Secours Mercy Health System. In this position, Dr. Christian will have oversight for graduate medical education, clinical informatics, provider engagement and education, as well as service line development.

Previously, Dr. Christian has served as vice president and chief medical officer for the Central Division of Carolinas Healthcare System in Charlotte, North Carolina. Prior to his tenure at Carolinas Healthcare System, Dr. Christian was an orthopedic surgeon for 18 years with practices in North Carolina, Utah and Pennsylvania. Dr. Christian’s expertise in medicine coupled with his high-level administrative experience will inform his strategic vision in this role as a physician leader within the health system.

Dr. Christian’s unique background includes nearly a decade of active duty service in the United States Navy, during which he climbed the ranks from Lieutenant to Commander, receiving several medals and commendations along the way. During this time, he served in various clinical positions within the Navy from medical department head to chief of orthopedic surgery service.
