Yichen Zhang, PhD

Lead health economics researcher

Yichen Zhang, PhD, is lead health economics researcher for the Clinical and Economic Research Group of 3M Health Information Systems. As a health economist by training, she has 10 years experiences working on alternative payment models (APMs) for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and Medicaid. In her current role, she has been working with to state Medicaid programs, commercial payers and health care providers. Also, she is involved in the 3M tool development and implementation.

Prior to joining 3M, she was a senior research health economist in the RTI Health Care Financing & Payment Program, leading efforts on several CMS risk adjustment and alternative payment program projects. Before joining RTI, she was a senior health economist and principal investigator at Harvard Medical School Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. She led quantitative analyses on multiple projects for top oncology providers. She has published in peer-reviewed journals such as the JAMA Oncology, Journal of Oncology Practice, Journal of Palliative Medicine, The Quality Management Journal, and The Milbank Quarterly, among others.
